I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I guess that on a sale SS3 is a great deal if you get your expectations in line with what the game actually is and if you just want to have fun - especially with friends because the co-op is quite good (also the game becomes easier in co-op so it's recommended to get some friends if you struggle with the difficulty). ![]() There is nothing wrong with this formula and it has worked so far - keeping me entertained. The game still looks good and the gameplay is in essence exactly the same: run, shoot, continue shooting, don't stop running, everyone is dead? ah okay, move to a different area and repeat. I guess the variety from SS2 collapsed on itself and ceased to exist.īut, this is important, even though I haven't enjoyed SS3 as much as the other installments in the series, that doesn't mean that didn't have a great time. So yes, we are back where we started baby, expect sand, more sand and things made of sand just as it was in SSTFE. That might be because before SS3 Croteam were working on a urban military shooter in a desert environment and when that got cancelled, they simply used what they had for SS3. SS3 was quite "grounded" (as far as SS games go) in this regard. At least with SS2 there was the element of complete insanity present in every design choice ranging from the environment and weapons all the way to the characters and story which kept me going. Unfortunately SS3 doesn't play as well as the original SSTSE and SSTFE and looks very uninspired. Serious Sam 3: Before First Encounter is a bit of a low point in the series and it was the game I had the least fun with.
